World Food Map Update

IMAG0511

I’ve updated my wireframes to respond to the feedback I got during my user-testing, my presentation, and from Drew. Here is what I’ve changed

  • filter by spice (for example, find a country that uses lots of cardamom, or bird’s eye chili)
  • filter by continent
  • Made a menu page
  • Decided not to help people locate a restaurant (at least for now)
  • Added search ability to list view
  • Removed useless filter button
  • Added page for logging meal
  • Added more detailed information about etiquette and cuisine pages

Here’s the Link: App Map v2.

Project 1 Rough Concepts

1. I love trying new food, so one app I have been thinking about would include a map and list of every country and encourage the user to try food from every single country. Obviously this would be really difficult, especially people who don’t live in metropolitan areas, but I think it would still be fun to try. Extra points for actually going to the country. The app would allow you to store information about the meal that you log for each country, like pictures, notes, location, etc. Sort of like a pokedex but for food.

2. Another food app that I wish exists is something that can help me find a place to eat that is on the way between where I’m coming from and where I’m going. With the available applications, I can either search around the departure location or the destination, but it’s very difficult to find something on the way. For example, I would tell the application that I am walking from D12 to somewhere in midtown. Then the application would plan a route and list some of the higher rated places to eat on the way. Ideally it would show places that are not only highly rated, but also that are relatively quick and casual (if I weren’t looking for quick and casual I wouldn’t be concerned about eating on the way to somewhere else…)

Will add a third if one comes to mind.
