• Although all apps may differ in brand personality and traits, successful and well designed applications all share the same best practices of these 6 design principles: Aesthetic Integrity, Consistency, Direct Manipulation, Feedback, Metaphors, and User Controls. These principles will help maximize impact and reach.
• Subtle animations add to the connection between people and content on the screen. But when making these animations, they should make sense to the user. For example if you can swipe to the left to get to the next page of something you should be able to swipe to the right to go back a page. Animations should also be consistent in that the way they are designed for the operating system should match the way they are designed within the specific app.

My app concept is called CookBook. It is a virtual cookbook where you can store all of your recipes digitally. It has a social aspect in that you can make your recipes public and searchable within the app’s database and then proceed to add other people’s recipes to your own cookbook. My target user will be young adults. A lot of the time this demographic is new to cooking and maybe gets handed down some recipes that mom used to make.
