July. 22 Assignment – Jiwon Chong
Hello, my name is JIwon. I’m a designer just graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design from SVA and from my last class that was Design for good, we were learning how to solve the problems, doing the research and designed the mobile interfaces and I was really interested in this process. This class would be a great chance to learn mobile app design and I’m excited about it.
After watching & reading HI guideline, (Designing Intuitive Interface, Iterative UI Design) If the user is a consumer or professional, the language would be different. so clearly state the user. Second, If we are using color to differentiate the selection, try desaturation to see the selection and the content are distinguishable. Lastly, I’ve learned ‘80.20 rule’. Designers would put 80% effort on designing, but the people would take 20% of effort and time to take a look at it. So more feature would lead to skipping. Also, giving more choices would lead to a confusion. Think about only the essential.
- App concept: Restaurant reservation app for a special day (Birthday, graduation, Valentine’s, mother’s day, wedding anniversary…)
- Goal: Design a restaurant reservation app and add features that will enhance the user’s special night.
- User: 34 years old software engineer, living with his wife and a 9 years old son in Chelsea.
- User wants to: Make the most of his wife’s birthday.
