For March 16, 2017

For next week:

For project 2, you’ll be adapting your project 1 concept for the AppleTV.  Everyone will present wireframes of their AppleTV app.

AppleTV Parsons 2017 Lecture

Reminder:

I will base your midterm grades off of the work for project 1, and work only counts if it’s on the blog.

Completely optional:

If you’d like to dive deeper into coding and creating apps from Apple’s perspective, they are offering scholarships for attending WWDC this summer. Learn more.

For March 9, 2017

Take what you have learned from critique and digital prototyping and create a final iteration of your Project 1 app. Prepare a presentation to give to outside critics. You don’t need to show every iteration that you made along the way, just your final concept; it would be nice to call out things reasons that you ended where you did, due to things you learned when doing paper and digital prototyping.

  • Post your final iteration presentation with your design and marvel (or other prototyping tool) link to the blog.
  • Note 3 things that you changed from things you learned when doing digital prototyping.
  • Duplicate instead of working in the same Marvel prototype so that your initial version is kept intact.

As a reminder:

  • To get credit for your work, you need to post it on the blog
  • You should have posted:
    • Wireframes and app map
    • Digital design/digital prototype with changes made from paper prototyping
    • At least one #thursdayplay

AppleTV Parsons 2017

For March 2, 2017

  • Iterate on your visual design . Group 2 will present their designs in class.
  • Iterate on your digital prototype to test during class using Marvel or another digital prototyping tool of your choice. Please duplicate your prototype instead of editing the original one, that way I can look back at each iteration.
  • If you didn’t do it last week, note 3 things that you changed in this iteration due to things you learned from paper prototyping with users to get credit for doing your paper prototyping.

App Economics Parsons 2017

On March 9, both groups 1 & 2 will present their final iterations of Project 1 for outside critics. The syllabus has been updated to accommodate the snow day.

For February 23, 2017

  • Take your learnings from critique and paper prototyping and create a visual design for your app. Group 1 will present their designs in class.
  • Create a digital prototype to test during class using Marvel or another digital prototyping tool of your choice.
  • Note 3 things that you changed in this iteration due to things you learned from paper prototyping with users to get credit for doing your paper prototyping.

For February 16, 2017 (previously Feb 9)

****Moved because of snow day****

  • Iterate on your app map and wireframes. Group 2 will present. Each person will have about 10 minutes to present and get feedback. Post your wireframe on the blog.
  • Both groups should iterate on their paper prototypes to test next week. When you post your designs, you will need to post 2 things that you changed due to things you learned observing users using your prototype.
  • Keep posting #thursdayapps. You need to post at least one before midterm, and one between midterm and the end of the semester.

For February 2, 2017

  • Review the syllabus to understand class expectations and what we’re doing this semester.

Create a blog post with:

  • 3 things you didn’t know from the Apple HIG or the Android Design Guidelines
  • A selfie and a short bio
  • An app map and detailed wire frames: Using you sketches from class, create a digital app map and wireframe for your app. Group 1 will present. Each person will have about 10 minutes to present and get feedback.
  • Both groups should create paper prototypes to test next week: print your detailed wireframes at phone size to test.

From class today:

Class protocol things:

  • Register for the blog and make your blog username your real name (first or first + last name)
  • Start posting #thursdayapps. You need to post at least one before midterm, and one between midterm and the end of the semester.
  • You can put everything from each week into one blog post
  • Your work only counts if it’s on the blog.

For May 12th

  • Post any and all of your assignments on the blog that you have not yet. Everything should be posted before class starts. As always, if it’s not on the blog, you don’t get credit.
  • Create a final iteration of your project 3 app to present to outside critics. You are encouraged to present a bit of your Apple TV/Apple Watch/Accessibility pass.

For May 5

  • Create an Apple Watch, Apple TV, or accessibility design for your app. Both groups 1 & 2 will present next week.
  • Double check that all of your work is on the blog. If it’s not on the blog, you don’t get credit. For your group work, you can post it under one person, just make sure both people are mentioned.
  • You need to have at least 2 total #thursdayplays/#thursdayapps posts
