Re-inventing the selfie, introducing CamMe. Gone are the days of the awkward angles, bathroom mirror shots and your arm holding the camera taking up half the frame. The premise is simple – hands free camera – to be able to take photos without touching your phone at all. The app’s gestural control systems works in much the same way as Microsoft’s Kinect for Xbox 360. It’s refreshingly clean and simply – no social sharing aspect, no library of effects or filters. Choose your camera (front or rear), hold you hand up for recognition, then close it again to take the shot (Mostly reliable except sometimes in low light conditions – but what camera doesn’t struggle in low light conditions anyway?). The images get stored to your camera roll and can be emailed from within that app. Future versions are to add video capabilities, which will expand its possibilities a great deal. Personally, for someone who is constantly taking snapshots on my phone, it excites me have a new relationship with the camera, and no, not just for selfies.

AR Invaders

I have recently been going through a phase of being obsessed with Augmented Reality apps and the possibilities of what we can design with them. So far one of my favorite examples is this game “AR Invaders.” AR Invaders allows you to turn any room or space into the playing field for your game. When the game starts you are given controls to shoot and then you start to aim and shoot at UFOs that appear to be flying around in the environment around you. The great thing about this game is it encourages you to stand up and get actively involved with the game you’re playing. I have not played it yet but there is also a multiplayer mode which I can only assume lets you be more involved. I am leaning towards working with augmented reality next year in my thesis and this  app is a great inspiration for that.

monday apps !!!

First, this is an interesting iOS prototype app, definitely expensive but has some nice touches. A way better option is to do some prototypes on quartz composer. [demo] [tutorial].

Second, can we all plz quit instagram? ill give you some options: [dmesh for that DT branded look] ||[glitche for that i haven’t slept thanks to finals look]

Third, how you share documents and links? i use CloudApp and this on my Phone.

FInally, most of you guys have iOS developer accounts, get some VLC glory  // also i like this idea of getting apps that are not accepted by apple without jailbreak.

Bonustrack [not an app] : UX is not UI

Monday app

“Finally the overly attached girlfriend has her app”

Couple me!

This is an interesting and creepy app at the same time. I think the video in the main page could have shown a different scenario. If the app shows a long distance relationship interacting with it I find it more interesting. I’m not a person of stereotypes but the app only appeals to me for a needy relationship where I need to be constantly in contact with my girlfriend. How about missing your significant other; that is also a very important part of the relationship. Needless to say, it looks like a clustered of different features that other apps have. I think the concept and the pitch could have been better and really hit the right scenario.
