That way they can be exposed to all content at once on any page. Tab bars would be Discover, Personal Profile, Camera, and My Likes. All of those except camera would have the filter option at the top.

  1. When detecting a plat border, I’m wondering if you need to even have the user pick the exact shape of the plate. Could the user just have a food region and then the app could detect the color change between the food’s background (the plate) and the surrounding area (tablecloth/table)? I’m not sure that’s exactly right, but I’m interested to see if there’s some way to even further simplify your interface, and cover for the brooklyn restaurant who serves everything on a tree stump. It might be worth looking through what things you consider to be good plate shots and look for trends. If you can visually find a pattern, maybe the phone can as well.

Like we talked about, it’s worthwhile to explore out the social aspects of your app, even though many users may initially just use your app to share to Facebook or Instagram. Think through how to encourage users to look at shots in your app and not in those other platforms. What can your platform offer?

We also spoke about how you can simplify your app map. You can just open up the app in the Discover tab (I think your idea of filtering by different things in view makes sense) and then the photo taking could be a separate tab. Your app map is a bit noodle-y, and that’s always a good sign that you need to clarify the connections between your views.
